Consecutive interpreting

Consecutive interpreting consists in providing of a spoken translation once a speaker has completed a speech or a part of a speech. The interpreter listens to the speech, makes notes, and then provides the interpretation in the target language.

Interpreting services of this kind are most useful at the following:

• business meetings
• negotiations
• commercial discussions
• inspections
• official speeches and presentations
• weddings

Consecutive interpreting can also be used at conferences, seminars, and training.

It should be borne in mind however that this form of interpreting is quite time-consuming, as it makes the speech presented approximately twice as long.

The advantage of consecutive interpreting is that no special equipment is required, and therefore the cost of the service is reduced. Interpreting of this kind is a suitable solution for smaller events of shorter duration.
