BIRETA at Translating Europe Workshop

On May 17, 2019, another meeting of the Translating Europe Workshop project took place in Warsaw. This year, our translation agency took an active part in this event. Areta Kempińska, co-owner of Bireta, gave a presentation on the competences of the most desirable translators in the near future.

Translating Europe Workshops are part of a larger project called Translating Europe initiated by the European Commission. It is a series of workshops and smaller events aimed at bringing together and exchanging experiences among those involved in translation in the various countries of the European Union. Translating Europe Workshop complements the annual Forum organized by the EC in Brussels.

In Poland, the Translating Europe project meetings are organized by the national representation of the European Commission in cooperation with the Institute of Applied Linguistics at the University of Warsaw.

This year’s edition of the workshops was entitled: A Skill Set for a Future-Proof Translator: the triad of technological competence, soft skills, and project management skills. Areta Kempińska, co-owner of our agency, together with the head of the Translation Department, Izabela Radomska and  Deputy Head, Aleksandra Udziela, prepared a short presentation about the skills of a translator, proofreader, and poster that are currently the most desirable from the point of view of a translation agency.
